Hello World!!

Hello world.

I am the publisher and author of personalized children's books at manimaltales.com. Why personalized books? Well there are many reasons!

Make Your Child The Hero
I started writing personalized children’s books because I wanted every child to be the hero of their own story. I was tired of reading books about blonde, white children to my very much non-white, non-blonde children.

According to a survey done
by University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Education Cooperative Children’s Book Center (CCBC), in 2015, 73.3 percent of children's books depicted white characters! That's downright awful. In 2019 (the last year pre-pandemic, when they received a full slate of books to analyze), a full 75% of books were written by white authors and 71% of the books depicted white characters.

Ever since then, I’ve been on a mission to make my books even more individualized, even more custom.

I want every child to feel like they were special too.

Improves Reading Engagement

Personalized books improve a child’s vocabulary and reading comprehension. They also help create greater engagement for the child towards the content. One U.S. study found that adding personalized aspects to school reading books, reading comprehension scores improved by 40% compared to peers reading non-personalized stories! Several studies have routinely shown that personalized books do much to improve the child's excitement and eagerness to read.

Improves Diversity and Inclusion

This is probably my biggest reason. Personalized books provide a strong sense of empowerment by making the child the center of the story. According to a study published in the Journal of Educational Psychology, personalized content “produced dramatic increases, not only in students' motivation but also in their depth of engagement in learning, the amount they learned in a fixed time period, and their perceived competence and levels of aspiration.”

Accelerates Speaking and Improves Communication

A 2014 study of pre-school children cited by the National Literacy Trust found that personalized books encouraged children to speak more often and for longer, thereby accelerating overall language development.

Stay tuned. I am going to be creating a lot more content and will be publishing a lot more regularly!
